The Academie des Beaux-Arts
A french academy it was founded in 1648 under King Louis XIV. Charles Le Brun was the director of the academy. When it was first founded it was only men that were in the school until women were able to go to it in 1897. Artists had to prove their skills with basic drawing tests, figure drawing and painting. Monet was one of the most famous artists trained in this academy, but was rejected from the Academy three times before finally being admitted. The academy was known for its high standards for education and was one of the most influential schools in France.
