War
The Franco Prussian War began on July 15, 1870 and ended in February 1, 1871. Otto Eduard Leopold von Bismarck, chancellor of the North German Confederation planned and prepared the unification of the German Protestant states of the North and the German Catholic South by provoking a war with France. Germany was separated and/or divided culturally and politically and the only thing that brought them together was the hatred for France. The hatred for France all began when the Napoleonic wars began when France stole the German states and moved approximately 250,000 Germans into the French armies. Fighting in this war for the only thing that brought them together would unify the north and the south together into one whole country rather than being divided for many more decades to come.
